Atlantis, in partnership with Asturfeito, are working on a European project called “VPS for Tidal Turbine Generators” (VPSTTG).

This European Commission grant was awarded under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) by the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME), following a Sustainable Blue Economy call for proposals which had the objective of accelerating the implementation of the Integrated Maritime Policy and the deployment of the blue economy across Europe (EASME/EMFF/2017/1.2.1.12, Strand 1, Demonstration Projects).

VPSTTG is a two-year project, beginning on 1st January 2019, and receiving a total EC grant of just under €1 million.

The project consortium consists of two partners: Atlantis as coordinator, and Asturfeito.

  • Atlantis Operations (UK) Limited – “Atlantis”. AOUK is part of the SIMEC Atlantis Energy group of companies, and responsible within the group for tidal technology development and the provision of marine installation and other engineering services.
  • Asturfeito S.A.U. – “Asturfeito”, www.asturfeito.com. Asturfeito is a Spanish company specialising in design and fabrication of capital goods and systems for offshore oil & gas, industrial, renewable energy, aerospace, defense and scientific institutions markets. The company operates globally having executed projects for more than 20 countries covering all the value chain from detailed engineering, welding and machining to full assembly and testing at shop or project site.
