Objective:

Provision of a completed foundation for an AR-1500 tidal turbine

Deliverables:

D7.1: Completed foundation with accompanying quality documentation delivered to the point of mobilisation.

Progress:

The AR1500 foundation is one of the gravity-base foundations used in Phase 1A of the MeyGen project, which were fabricated by Isleburn at their workshops in Nigg, Scotland.  Trials fit of both the Cable Management System that connects the subsea cable to the foundation and the turbine, and the ‘stab’ connection that connects the turbine to the foundation, were conducted on the quayside at factory before the foundation was loaded out for transportation to site

The foundation was installed at the MeyGen site in October 2016 from Geosea’s Neptune jack-up barge, placing the tripod frame onto the seabed, and then lowering two ballast weights onto each of the three legs.
