D2.1: Environmental Monitoring Plan
D2.1: Environmental Management Plan
This WP is now complete, and all deliverables submitted.
The objective of the environmental and consenting work completed during the first 18 months of Clearwater was to finalise consenting to ensure the project complies with Scottish and European environmental legislation, allowing the project to develop to schedule.
To proceed with a project of this nature a number of consents are required. This includes but it not limited to the following:
- Section 36 of 1989 Electricity Generation Act;
- Marine licence awarded by Marine Scotland;
- Town and country planning act 1992; and
- Generation licence Electricity Act 1989
All of the above consents were awarded prior to the commencement of CLEARWATER, however in order to proceed there is a requirement to comply with a number of conditions set out in the above consents. The work undertaken to date on consenting has focused on the development of an Environmental Management Plan and more recently the development of an Environmental Monitoring Plan.
This Environmental Management Plan was prepared to set out the proposed method for discharging the Condition 11 of the Section 36 Consent for the development. It details the construction related mitigation methods proposed for the development both onshore and offshore, how these are to be delivered in the construction procedures and good working practices for installing the development.
The Environmental Management Plan was submitted to the Scottish Ministers for their written approval which was granted.
