Mull of Galloway

Status: in Development

The Mull of Galloway site has long been recognised as an area of high resource, the area was listed in the top ten sites in the UK for tidal power in a 2005 study by leading engineering and infrastructure firm, Black and Veatch. As yet, no grid connection application has been made and the consenting process has not been initiated, and so it is assumed that the earliest date for commencement of construction at this site is 2020 however this is dependent on the passing of innovative power purchase agreement legislation.

The intention is for the Mull of Galloway sites to have a capacity of up to 30MW, delivered by 24meter rotor diameter AR2000 turbines which would be manufactured in Scotland.
